2 Why did I say never say never? Because. In a weak moment Kurt agreed to build another car for me. This is a 51 Buick Riviera two door hardtop which I found in a field probably twenty years ago. I sold it to Paul Youngboy Kreun who later sold it to Steve Kroger who offered it to any Count who would move it out of his garage. I had always thought that the Buick would be a cool custom back when it languished in my lot and was first to raise my hand. The car went ďăđŭƚž^ƚğǀ ĞĨŽƌĂĐŽŵƉůĞƚĞƐĂŶĚďůĂƐƟŶŐĂŶĚ<ƵƌƚŚĂƐĐŽŵŵĞŶĐĞĚĚŽŝŶŐƚŚĞŶĞĐĞƐƐĂƌLJŵĞƚĂů repair. Recently a 401 Buick nailhead engine and 400 Turbo from a 66 Wildcat fell into my hands and they are being rebuilt for the cruiser. There is no deadline and no projects in the future (unless I can t sell my 59 Kenworth.) Don t even think about it!! If you would share your project with ^ƚƌğğɵŷ E Ğǁ ƐůĞƚů^ŵŝƚŚŽƌ:ŝŵ Neuzil know. 3 Steve Kroger cream of the crop STEVE IS NOT only one of my most favorite Counts. He is one of my most favorite people, period. I would say this even if he hadn t given me a project car recently (which he did). I am proud to have been instrumental (along with Skip Abell) in bringing Steve to the Counts some 17 years ago. We were ĂůůĂƩ ĞŶĚŝŶŐĂĐůĂƐƐŽī ĞƌĞĚďLJ' ĞŶĞĂƚĂŶĚ ZĞƐƚŽƌĂƟŽŶĂƚƚŚĞƟŵĞĂŶĚ^ƚĞǀ ĞŚĂƐƐƚĂƚĞĚŵŽƌĞƚŚĂŶ ŽŶĐĞƚŚĂƚũŽŝŶŝŶŐƚŚĞŽƵŶƚƐǁ ĂƐŽŶĞŽĨƚŚĞďĞƐƚƚŚŝŶŐƐŚĞĂŶĚ ĞďĞǀ ĞƌĚŝĚ dśăƚ ƐƉƌĞƩ LJŚŝŐŚƉƌĂŝƐĞ I SUPPOSE THAT Steve is best known for the work he did to build the new Counts Club House. With only the $50,00 which we received from selling the old club house, a group of hardworking Counts ramrodded by Steve built a facility now valued at a quarter of a million dollars. For sure, there were a lot of helping hands. STEVE WAS born in Madison, SD, but spent his childhood in Oregon. In 1969 he came back to South Dakota. It took 8 years for the 42 below zero temps of Eastern South Dakota to drive him to Rapid City in Though he picked fruit in Oregon Steve has been a brick layer since he was 16 years old, following in the footsteps of his Dad.
